our grand day out

Last Thursday we spontaneously packed up the car and headed out to Hueston Woods State Park for the afternoon. And I am so glad we did - it was gorgeous!

Emma took of like a shot toward the lake as soon as she was freed from her car seat. :)

Ian napped on the way, but was still quite tired when we got there and had a hard time enjoying the lovely afternoon with us until after we got him soothed and sleeping again. Poor little guy!

We hiked back through the underbrush to see the dam spillway.

Emma was so excited to see more water. :)

The rocks beneath our feet were full of fossils! Most of them were of little shells, but there were a few plants too.
