Thursday morning dawned bright and early. John, David, Emma and I headed out the door by 8 (ish) and headed over to the Stonecypher home. We picked up Esther, the bride's little sister, and went to a friend's house to cut greenery. Their friend had some lovely boxwood, rose hips, ivy and vinca that turned out to be perfect for the bouquets and arrangements. She was so kind and obliging to let us hack away at her yard!

Esther, Emma and I were dropped off at the Stonecypher home, and after a quick consultation with Leah to confirm her vision of what the flowers would look like, we started in. None of us were entirely certain what we were doing, but we had fun! Sarah F. (bridesmaid), Elizabeth (sister of the bride), and Karen O. (friend of Teri's from Colorado who had come to help with the wedding) were also there, and we had a boutonniere and corsage production line going!

After we finished the boutonnieres the guys showed up at the house for lunch - they had been getting their tuxes fitted - and everyone took a few minutes to get off of their feet while we finished up the last few boutonnieres. After lunch the guys and all the girls except for Leah and myself headed out to decorate the church.

Leah made some coffee, and we sat down for moment to eat, drink a cup (or two) of coffee, and talk. It was good. Then back to work on the rest of the corsages!

Once they were finished (at 3 - we had been working on the flowers since around 10:30 - whew!) we left for the church. And were hit by a heavy downpour on the way. :)

The major part of the set-up had been completed, and for the next few hours everyone filled in the edges and added tulle and "grace-notes" to the decor, romantifying the gym, foyer and sanctuary.

At 5 most of the Smillies headed back to the house, because a birthday party was about to happen. A birthday party for 4 guys. John, David, Brian and Colin all had birthdays the week before the wedding.

After the celebratory dinner, cake and presents, Sarah, Leah and I (Emma stayed with the guys) were picked up by Sarah F. and Esther for the ride downtown to the bachelorette celebration.

We met up with Elizabeth and Marian (a friend who had just arrived from Mexico) at the Scholar's Inn in Indianapolis for dessert and lots of good conversation, laughter, memory reliving and memory making. And lots of chocolate. The menu had seven different desserts, and there were seven girls, so we ordered them all! Oh, yum. It was a sweet and wonderful evening, one that will be treasured.

After all that dessert, we headed back to the Smillie home to do each other's nails and talk some more. I finally tumbled into bed around 12:30 ......... the next day had already begun.

The Stonecypher family invited the Smillies and Throckmortons, plus members of the bridal party, to dinner on Wednesday night. We had a relaxed and fun filled evening celebrating the marriage that was about to happen and enjoying the "calm before the storm".

It was a good, albeit late, evening. We enjoyed being able to relax and visit with our family, and we laughed a lot!

Brian and Leah are now happily married and on their honeymoon.

John and I had the honor of taking them to the airport yesterday evening, and having them in the back seat made me feel a tad bit wistful. They are so very happy. John and I are also (very much so!), but it sent my memory back to last year when we were snatching every single kiss we could get (yes, at stop lights too). I miss that. There is no way on earth that I would send Emma back, but I miss the tender giddiness of being just us two.

It was the first wedding that John and I had attended together since our own, and it was good. Now that we have been to one together, I am looking forward to the next one, one where we will sit next to each other and hold hands and look dreamily at each other and kiss and where I will not need to take a baby out to nurse.

All that to say, John and I are going on a date tonight.

pool time!

Emma and I are visiting my family in Sanger, California for nine days. My family is having a wonderful time introducing little Emma to the West coast (and all sorts of CA things such as In-N-Out) and spending lots of time with her. We decided that while we were here we would let Emma try out swimming in the pool (a classic California thing to do) for the first time this evening, and she loved it!!! Her smiles were just too cute as she realized that the pool was just one really big bathtub that she could float freely in.

Mom took over holding her while I got a bit of a movie.

The evening was getting chilly and Emma started to shiver when she bounced up out of the water (she is VERY buoyant) , so we got out of the pool after about 10-15 minutes, but we have plans to go back again soon!
